The mobile colorimeter APP support Android operating system version 7.0 or higher and iPhone supports iOS 7.0 or higher version. It can be installed in the following ways: 

● Scan the QR code on the  Spectrocolorimeter with a mobile browser or WeChat, follow the prompts to download and install.

● Click on the link 3NH APP to install the APP.

● Search for "3NH" (not case sensitive) in the APP Store/Google Play to install the application.

Colorimeter vs Spectrophotometer for Textile QC 

For textile quality control, a spectrophotometer is always the better choice instead of a basic colorimeter.

Key Reasons

  1. Spectrophotometer captures full spectral data, handles dyed fabric, printed textiles, yarn, woven and knitted materials with complex color and texture.

  2. Supports SCI/SCE, metamerism test, fastness comparison and batch color consistency inspection.

  4. Basic colorimeters only show simple color difference data, easily affected by fabric texture, rough surface and lighting, with poor stability for textiles.

Colorimeter calibration is indispensable for reliable quality control—ensuring measurement accuracy by compensating for component aging, environmental interference, and baseline drift. It standardizes data across devices/batches, maintains compliance with industry standards, and prevents costly rework from inaccurate color readings, making it critical for precision-driven industries like printing, food, plastics, textiles, paint and coatings.

The repeatability is an important parameter for the accuracy of the colorimeter. Threenh Technology portable colorimeter for color measurements tandard deviation ΔE*ab is within 0.03 (Measurement condition: the average value of 30 measurements on the white board at an interval of 3s after calibration). Each colorimeter can pass the qualified inspection before leaving the factory to ensure it conforms to the standard of China Metrology Institute.

D/8° and 45°/0° are two different illumination methods with distinct optical geometries. The D/8° illumination is suitable for general industries, and delivers better performance in color difference comparison and color measurement especially for high-gloss products. For the packaging and printing industry, the 45°/0° illumination is recommended.

D/8° (Diffuse / 8° viewing)

Recommended for:

  • Plastic, paint, ink, ceramic, textile, coating

  • Samples with metallic luster, pearlescent, glitter, or texture

  • Situations requiring consistent data with laboratory spectrophotometers

  • Applications needing SCI (including specular reflection) / SCE (excluding specular reflection) switching


45°/0° (45° annular illumination / 0° viewing)

Recommended for:

  • Printing, packaging, paper, ink, matte non-metallic materials

  • Products focusing on human eye direct visual matching

  • Standard color matching in printing & packaging industry
